About the Book
This is a spellbinding amazing tale (a work of fiction) about a woman's fight for the ideals she was brought up to believe in: FREEDOM, HOPE, STRENGTH and LAUGHTER. She was a woman of great integrity who made mistakes, for she was only human. She grew up in South Africa during the madness of an untenable and brutal apartheid regime which left its black population reeling. … her name was Fleur-Rowin Elizabeth Eugene - the initials of her name spell out the word *F*R*E*E* - would she ever really be free? Walk with her now and smell the woodsmoke on an open fire, hear the roar of lion on a savannah plain, feel the throbbing pulsating rhythm of distant drums on a moonlit night and touch the crashing waves of the Indian and Atlantic Oceans as they surge onto rugged shores…
Experience life during an apartheid era, when a ruling government enacted its brutal laws of apartheid, destroying the lives of so many. So many lives were lost, so many people were unjustly imprisoned for their beliefs and their fight against oppression.
Apartheid was a 'new' word for an 'old' dogma which had been in place unofficially for three hundred years. Segregation in all atrocious perfidy would be the law of the land in South Africa for many decades, but apartheid WOULD come to an end eventually, through the fight for freedom, by its people who refused to have their pride broken, though often, their bodies were battered into a pretence of submission…
… this is also a tale of love - the greatest gift of all - for time is a shadow - so seize the day - "… TEMPUS UMBRA - CARPE DIEM …"
