Neo-Africanism: The New Ideology for a New Africa, is a compelling dissertation of the fundamental philosophy, sociology, politics, and economics of Africa. It exposes the imperative of African-centric ideology to African development.
About the Book
Neo-Africanism: The New Ideology for a New Africa is a vision of an African renaissance grounded in traditional African philosophies of social harmony and mutual interdependence. The author, an activist with United Africa Organization, calls for Africans to deconstruct the multiplicity of divisive and antagonistic political ideologies that have dominated Africa since the demise of colonialism and replace them with one harmonious and co-operative political ideology—Neo-Africanism—a unified ideology grounded in the social harmony and interdependence that characterized traditional African life. He shows how this ideology can be applied successfully to the politics, economics, education, and health care of Africa and how it can help create a New Africa—a reawakened, peaceful, and prosperous Africa highly regarded by all the nations of the world. The book is aimed at students of African studies, political science, philosophy, macroeconomics, and international relations, as well as the general population of Africans and the African political elite. Both undergraduate and graduate students will find the book helpful because of the comprehensive analysis and solutions to problems in the important areas of a nation. Unlike existing books, Neo-Africanism provides philosophical guidance that will empower the people of Africa to solve Africa’s problems and to acquire the capability to create sustainable peace and prosperity.
About the Author
The author was born in Africa. His full birth name is Papa Kwamina Yalae, the name given to him by his African parents when he was born in Africa. When he started school at age six, he was given the name John Yalley and baptized in the Anglican Church, where he served as altar boy with his two brothers. John Yalley has since been his official name. Since his African parents and African clan call him Papa Yalae, not John Yalley, and since his birth name reflects his African identity, he has decided to use his birth name as the author name in all his writings on Africa.
Papa Yalae migrated to the United States in December 1980 to pursue higher education and acquired a master of business administration in 1998 from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA. Although a business student, his passion is sociology and politics. Accordingly, a greater part of his life has been devoted to research on social cohesiveness of groups and the suitability of political arrangements to the social conditions. Since coming to the United States, Papa Yalae has been researching, analyzing, evaluating, and comparing information to develop new ideas to help solve Africa´s development problems. Neo-Africanism: The New Ideology for a New Africa, which is his second book on Africa, articulates the ideology most suitable to Africa’s unique socio-political diversity. It emphasizes that appropriate political ideology in all Africa is perhaps the most indispensable political requirement for the attainment of high levels of development in Africa.
