Ash and Mrs Hemingway is the story of a dog guide pup from her arrival at her foster home, through her training, to her handler's home.
About the Book
Ash and Mrs Hemingway is the story of a black Labrador Retriever puppy who was born to become a dog guide. It follows her journey from the kennels where she was born, to her foster home, to her return, one year later, to the Lions Foundation for formal training and then to her handler’s home. Lovely photos illustrate Ash’s journey as she learns to act appropriately in the many places she visits with Mrs Hemingway. We see Ash at shopping malls greeting children and seniors, at church enjoying the children’s story and at a grocery store where she is a special visitor. Ash visits other working dogs and discovers the different types of assistance that working dogs can give people with physical disabilities. The story is written for children and is accompanied by factual information for the adult who may be reading or talking with the child or with a group of students.
