by Jason Lyne; Illustrated by Lyn Watson

18 pages; Saddle stitched; catalogue #08-0639; ISBN 1-4251-7882-0; US$14.53, C$14.53, EUR9.92, £7.50

Step back in time and become part of the exciting adventures of Captain Red and his motley crew of pirates, as they sail the Cornish coast stealing treasure.

About the Book

This fictional tale, written for children aged 4-12 years, takes the reader back to a time when piracy was abundant around the Cornish coast. The story is interwoven with historic facts, sailing terms and Cornish geographical features, which could all be used as starting points for a variety of educational topics. A book that can be read purely for pleasure or used as a topic starter. This exciting adventure is brought to life by detailed hand painted watercolour and pen illustrations, which draw the reader into the book. The story is about a small boy who finds a coin on the beach at Coverack. He takes it to an old fisherman, who has lived in the village all his life to see if he knows where it might have come from. The fisherman tells the boy a tale about the adventures of Captain Red and his motley crew of pirate.

About the Author

I was born in London and moved to Cornwall at the age of 11 to live by the sea. I am married, with two children who love having stories told to them. This coupled with the memories of looking out of my bedroom window as a child where I could see a light from a distant lighthouse and the mist rolling in from the sea sparked my imagination to put pen to paper and record the tales I have told to others over the years.
