Trafford FirstVoices (TFVPP)

There are more than 6,500 languages around the world that are on the verge of extinction. The TFVPP is an international initiative which aims to provide indigenous communities with free publishing services for language preservation tools such as books, dictionaries and language primers.

The TFVPP was developed through the collaboration between Trafford Publishing and the First People's Cultural Foundation (FPCF), the Canadian Indigenous non-profit that created FirstVoices.com, a set of web-based language tools and teaching resources. In 2005, Trafford Publishing pledged $1.6 million in publishing services. With this pledge, Trafford provides up to 65 publishing packages per year to help in the worldwide effort to document and preserve languages at risk.
