About the Book

This book details the final years in a small fishing community in Limerick city and how the modernisation of the Irish Republic would bring an end to their industry. It show the development of the Ardnacrusha power scheme and how its development would impact on the lives of the Abbey fishermen and their families. It also includes a brief history of the fishermen and folklore surrounding their lives on the Shannon River.


About the Author


The author created this work on the back of her Masters degree on the subject of the Abbey fishermen and the Shannon Scheme. She has published articles in well known local and national historical journals and is a keen genealogist.
