About the Book

It is happening currently in our society that most persons with Dementia are viewed wrongly as having Alzheimer's disease. Edith, a registered nurse, learns in her working experiences over many years that dementia is caused by many other diseases and/or conditions. Edith challenges the wrong facts given to the public as she reveals details in dementia causes and prevention to the reader.

Edith grows up witnessing family members with various diseases causing dementia symptoms, becomes an RN with advanced degrees, and teaches others about dementia. Her marriage fails; she raises two daughters. Her abrupt short interval romantic involvement with Dan, the gardener, startles her value system.

While teaching dementia details, she suffers a stroke leaving her unable to speak without causing a loss of mental functions. While wrongly admitted to a dementia nursing care unit, she observes and listens to various behaviors and stories of residents previously admitted to this same nursing care unit. Seeing these residents seemingly "Living Beyond", prompts Edith to dwell on her getting out of this station. The love of her life, Dan, reappears; Edith is rescued and love and fulfillment is realized by her.

About the Author

The author is one of nine siblings having grown up on a farm in Northwestern Ohio. The one vocation she could afford to pursue was either being a teacher or a nurse. She chose the later and continued her educational goals throughout her professional career. She developed a keen interest in the causes of Dementia while either providing the direct care or the management of the nursing care of residents with these limitations.

She became concerned with the public being led to believe that all residents with dementia had Alzheimer's disease. To this day, the public is unaware of the many causes of Dementia, the possible preventive measures of acquiring this condition as well as the possibility of learning to live a productive life through proper management of the many diseases and/or conditions.

Mrs. Roth's dedicated study over a span of 25 years prompted her to want to share the knowledge of her experiences. These motives have driven her to lecture, teach and now publish some of her findings.
