Specifications for Aerial Triangulation, Release 1.1, November 1991
This guidebook of Specifications for Aerial Triangulation has been documented by a Technical Committee comprising of Engineering and Photogrammetry members of the Surveys and Resource Mapping Branch, now known as Geographic Data BC, Ministry of Environment, Lands and Parks. As a manual it is intended to be used for Aerial Triangulation to provide control points for Large, Medium and Small Scale Digital and Analogue mapping within the Provincial Government and contractors for Mapping Projects in British Columbia. A forum will be established to provide for the orderly maintenance of these specifications.
The main objective of aerial triangulation is to produce from ground control, sufficient points in the photogrammetric models to ensure that each model can be oriented accurately as required for stereo compilation in either orthophoto or line mapping in digital or analogue form. The determination of accurate coordinates for targeted points to be used as cadastral ties or for other purposes can be considered as the by-product of the aerial triangulation process.
