Excerpts

From page 1.

When Miss Rose turned northeast, the views of the shrimp boats and barge traffic were picture perfect this fine day. The bay darkened, and later the stars twinkled like a multi-million light holiday tree. There is nothing more soothing than the gurgle of the water as it is pushed aside by a sailboat.
It is quiet and relaxing. I put on a light jacket and leaned back in the cockpit to think about the next morning's breakfast. I was on the way to the other side of sunset.

From page 12

The car rolled around a turn to the right and the mighty Jungfrau stopped my eye movement cold. It was the most majestic mountain I had ever seen. It was 13,642 feet high with a snow-capped top.
In the bright blue sky it rose above the land as a beacon to the beauty of creation. I was in the Alps. The Swiss Alps, to be sure. I could not wait to get to the top of one of these mountains.

From page 43

The citizens of St. Eustatius were about to have themselves a grand celebration. It was the first Antillean National Celebration. This was to be a great event in this country's history. Jennifer and I were the only two Americans that would have the privilege of seeing it.

From page 126

The top gives you the opportunity to look inside what was once a smoldering lava maker. Today, you will find a rain forest inside The Quill. Magnificent is all I can say about it. It is amazing that two complete Eco systems grow in the same place and look so different. There is one inside The Quill and one on the outside.

From page 180.

The ride along the Bow River, in the Banff area, will give you some gorgeous views of the mountains in the background while being serenaded by the rushing water of the river. It is a symphony in nature to experience this combination of sight and sound.

From page 260.

In a few years when she is two or three, we'll frolic for days on white sand mounds that touch the Emerald Sea. We shall chase hermit crabs as they hide in the shells they have borrowed for a home.
We shall fly our kites from the back of our sailboat while we glide across the water toward a new port of call.

A Must Have for even those who aren't traveling
This book is folksy and riveting, and the style is of sitting around the living room and listening to the stories told. They're good stories. The author's style of writing invites you in and takes you along on a wonderful ride across the country. If you've ever wanted to see it all, this is the way to do it.

This is an easy to read and well-written travel book.
Come Travel With Me To The Other Side Of Sunset is a collection of stories of the travels that Mr. Ladewig has made to many parts of the world. It is easy to read and made me feel that I was traveling with him. In-depth interest is added by the author's active participation and enjoyment in good food, hiking, horseback riding, sailing, scenery, and photography. The book contains many excellent photographs. It also provides many helpful tips and suggestions on how to plan the various aspects of a trip. While this book covers travels to many parts of the world, favorite locations appear to be the out-of-the-way Caribbean Islands and the Canadian Rockies. This book entices me to travel to some places where I have never been, to go back to some where I have been and to dream about the rest. A very enjoyable well written and entertaining book.
