About the Book
This comprehensive guide to do-it-yourself Web promotion and successful on-line business, can be your most valuable assistant on the difficult way to real Web success on a small budget. This is a book on Web promotion, not on A-B-C of Website building. It is intended both for people who already have a Website and who, by introducing certain special adjustments to it, will be able to ensure it reaches a wider public, as well as for those just about to build their Website: it will tell them what elements to build into it so that it will ultimately generate top promotion. Below, I present you a short excerpt from THE SAVVY WAY TO SUCCESSFUL WEBSITE PROMOTION. It can give you better idea what to expect inside. However - real secrets, most valuable tips and working methods you can find in the book itself. By adopting them, you would gain serious advantage over average webmasters, and push your site well ahead of your competitors. Thank you for your interest! - Derek Galon |
Excerpt from Overview:
Designing your page, and promoting it, are two separate, entirely different things. Unfortunately, not everybody realizes that, and that's a pretty common problem, even among good designers. Because of the amazingly rapid expansion of the Internet, many good designers have added Web designing as a modern extension to their services. But these designers know very little about promotional tricks and methods, with the result that the pages they create don't have the ingredients to qualify them for effective search engine visibility - and, consequently, you won't achieve your desired success if you rely solely on their services. And, of course, being themselves not aware of the extreme importance of proper Web promotion, they won't tell you that there is anything more to be done after they've finished designing your site!
I know many small business owners who have spent considerable sums of money on Website creation, and yet are often disappointed, and complain about on-line presence being useless and not bringing in any profit. They disbelieve me when I tell them of my own positive experience. Most probably, they will never venture to try any further attempts at Web-based sales. Their nicely designed pages are still there on-line, hanging on neglected, unknown to the world, not visible to anyone but the closest friends that are in the know... When I question such Website owners, I hear the same story over and over again. The people who designed their pages, also already installed everything on the server, and the site is there, waiting, on-line. Available for access from around the world... But - no one is coming! Promotion? What promotion? What are you talking about? Is that really necessary? Doesn't it cost extra money? No! They're definitely not going to waste any more of their hard-earned money on that stupid Internet!
Another story that is often repeated tells of "a good deal" - a "package", a "unique opportunity"... A service that includes taking a few (lousy) pictures, creating a (usually poor looking) Web page, and submitting it to 500 search engines. - Wow! All 500 of them! For only $150, all-included! That must be truly terrific! Expectations rise high: now the company cannot fail to become widely known all over the world! - And yet, for some mysterious reason, it does not generate any business Well, I am not surprised. No wonder it doesn't work. Such services and submissions are simply useless. You would get the same results throwing your money down the drain...
I've had a close look at many such pages. Regardless of the quality of their design, the way they are prepared is not genuinely aimed at any kind of Web promotion. They are not fitted with all the necessary components to ensure promotion. They have no proper meta tags, no such thing as well balanced keywords, the title is usually all wrong, frames are often used on the front page, etc. etc. All these items will be discussed in detail in the next section, dealing with Search Engine promotions. For the moment, I can only say - alas! - those pages just have no right to work well! So, if you want REAL business on-line, you need to create a REAL Website, and to REALLY promote it. There's no other way.
About the Author
Long before the Internet era, Derek Galon worked for many years as a business manager and promoter, in Europe and in Canada, gaining experience and honing his skills and knowledge.
With the arrival of the Internet, he turned his talents to that area and devoted himself to mastering techniques of Web promotion, which he finds a fascinating challenge. Running several successful Websites as well as a small business off-line, he has gained a deep understanding of the expectations, needs, and hopes of both business owners and customers. By being actively involved in handling these tasks on a day-to-day basis, he keeps constantly abreast of current developments in this ever-expanding area. All the knowledge thus gained, he puts into the promotion work he does for his constantly growing circle of clients. His Internet service specializes in strategies and tactics for increasing on-line traffic and long term Internet success.
In recognition of his skills and knowledge, he was invited to evaluate leading edge e-commerce software by Hewlett-Packard, offered by Master Card to participate in a large on-line promotion, etc. His Websites received several Web awards, and were highlighted in publications like USA Today, Windows Magazine, and others. He has been interviewed by the Globe and Mail and by several European newspapers, and his professional suggestions have been published on-line and used to improve Internet commerce software.
The present book was created with the small business and sole entrepreneur in mind. Using the knowledge and experience gained in the course of his work, and condensing it into simple, straight-forward terms, set out in concise, well ordered chapters, Derek Galon has created a useful, practical tool that can be of help both to the novice and to the more practiced hand. The material includes detailed characteristics of the major search engines, insightful descriptions of methods of effective Web promotion, as well as advanced techniques of improving Website visibility on-line. Supported with numerous helpful tips, additional details on special promotional strategies, and information on sources of various free do-it-yourself materials, the book is a comprehensive and effective guide to successful Web promotion. If you are a small business owner, serious about starting or perfecting your business on the Web, and looking for shortcuts that will save you time and stress - this book is for you!
