About the BookIn John Zarbo's new collection of poetry, A Timeless Ovation, the changing perspectives on life are reflected upon. From the material to the ethereal, John Zarbo holds nothing back. |
About the Author
After knee injuries sidelined any hopes of an athletic career, John Zarbo began writing poetry in 1996 on a dare from his mother.
Since then, he has written several poems that have been published individually. His new found belief that our course and purpose in life is not always placed in front of us, but rather is brought out at certain points in our life by circumstances and means which we never expect.
In his first book, A Timeless Ovation, the changing perspectives in life are reflected in his work. A somewhat spiritual exploration of the world, it has a unique "look under the surface," style that both serious and layman poets can appreciate. A refreshing and enjoyable read that is appealing to those who are looking for something new.

The Mountain remains.
With our knowledge we bend nature to our whim,
combining and creating almost at will.
With the fire in our hands we etch our way through
mountains with our desire- yet the mountain remains!
All our knowledge and all our power are as an opiate,
fooling us with the illusion of our progress, blinding
us to the price of our ingenuity which is seen in the
newspapers everyday-
Violence, Turmoil, Despair, Depravity, and Degradation.
The Mountain is more formidable than we imagined!
Mocking us as the power to truly move it is slowly being
forgotten, for we have no stomach for it.
That time honored trusting in that which is beyond the
knowledge and vanity we love so much- an ancient care
we nourish not,
And therefore the mountain remains!
