This small but powerful manual cuts through the clutter that has been built up around coaching team sport and puts it into its nuts and bolts components. It will give you an understanding of sport and how it fits together and will provide you as a coach a foundation to build your own style upon.

The book lays out the four fundamental areas to focus upon for coaching teams and provides a practice structure to tie the four areas together. It also highlights the requirements to be a class skillful player and reveals useful information including tools to release potential, reaching for the top, player turn over and finals.

Robin was born in 1966, Temuka, New Zealand, where he has lived nearly all his life, except for two years in the early 1990s whilst overseas, working in London, Belgium and Turkey. Robin has been involved with field hockey since 1973 and has actively participated in playing, umpiring, coaching and administration. He has also played and coached at representative level. Currently he holds New Zealand Hockey Federation Level Two and Coaching New Zealand Level Two Certification.

Robin is passionate about field hockey, his future as a coach, regardless of which team will really be about lifting the skill level of each player, passing on knowledge gained and working the team strategy to bring out the best in each player.
