Cubans adore politics and get involved in all phases of the electoral process, getting the votes, choosing the candidate, and making their opinions known. This story is about an attorney that has been secretly anointed by some Republicans to become a candidate, but the promise never materializes. The man is an American born in Miami, the son of immigrant Cuban parents, and the Cuban community goes nuts with the possibility of "getting near" the White House. It is all fiction, a fabrication, but the personalities described could very well be alive and walking down Calle Ocho. The Author hopes no one feels included or part of the farce. He confesses to having enjoyed writing every word therein.
All locations and activities described, with names changed, are typical of the present Miami. And, in between the impossible events, some serious political ideas do creep in.
Juan del Cerro had been writing
historical crime fiction. He has
published with Trafford two books
before:
Havana Recalled I - Killer Kin,
and
Havana Recalled II - The Secret Comparsa
A Cuban in the White House is his
first venture into political fiction, satire,
or fun, as you may wish to call it.
He hopes fellow Cuban-born
Americans will not get mad at the
criticisms, and like the book. Some,
he fears, might be misled by the title,
an innocent plug in favor of his much
maligned nationality. But he ends by
saying "Could it possibly come true?"
