Emily Bunker attended Stanford University, graduating with a BA in anthropology, and is the author of two other books: Nuri's Donkey (about the Turkish village she once belonged to) and Secret Rules of the SAT Game (the tricks, traps, and shortcuts of the SAT).

Emily's beautiful and talented half-Turkish daughters, Michelle and Eliza - featured players in Jet Black Cat - are all grown up. The book's stars, Jet and Twix, are now twelve and ten.
