In these various stories listeners and readers join Jump Hopalong and his friends as they learn valuable character building attributes. The listeners are encouraged to participate by answering questions, singing, jumping, and hopping along with the characters of each story and are left with a simple rhyme to remember the character building trait. The main character in each story is Jump Hoplalong, the best leaper in all of Hopland. He uses his talents and abilities to teach some of his friends; rabbits, a frog, a grasshopper, and a cricket, lessons in friendship, honesty, and diversity. Each story takes place in Hopland, an imaginary place where all the residents are some type of hopper. Each interactive story invites readers to participate with Jump by hopping around with he and his friends encouraging them to always strive to do their best. A different supporting character and theme is introduced in each story helping young readers to decide what to do. The cast of characters include Recoil is a small young rabbit that experience trouble with direction. Rebound is a large hopper who cannot hop, but bounces around the town of Hopville. Grass Hopper and Mr. Croak are powerful leapers who help Jump teach the citizens of Hopland about diversity. Mayor Pogo is a one legged rabbit who teaches the importance of following rules. Recoil decides that honesty and truthfulness is really the best policy. When children are introduced to Hopland, they are energized to actively participate with the characters hopping and leaping becoming a part of the story. Children are always encouraged to do their best in all situations. Each story shows that character defines who we are and helps us to respect others and their differences.

About the Author
I began telling stories ever since I could talk. Recently, I decided to develop a new generation of tales focusing on character building. Through the antics of the children around me, I look at the world with a child like perspective. It is important for children to learn to navigate in the world around them and to find their place in it. Simple moral character is sadly missing from everyday interactions. The best way to impact the future generation is to model good behavior. If we stop and listen, there are numerous opportunities to teach character building and a love for literature. I grew up in Louisiana with a passion for reading which continues today. Reading is a means to escape, to learn, and to relate our environment. I am a huge advocate for literacy and through my family’s foundation, Spaulding Charities, my wife Monique and I work to eradicate illiteracy in our community. My goal is to encourage children to enjoy reading and to create a life long thirst for it. I sincerely hope that you enjoy the Tails From Hopland!
