I knew I couldn’t stomach any more stew. That was when Daddy began to yell at me: “Eat the rest!” he stormed. “Eat it, I say!”… I tried desperately but every bit I took stuck in my throat… I began to gag. My stomach began to lurch from terror and…helplessly, I vomited into the stew… as I threw up Daddy shoved my head in the bowl of stew, grabbed his razor strap and began hitting me harder and harder, yelling like a wild man… he forced my jaws open, scooped up the mixture of vomit and stew and shoveled it down my throat. He forced me to swallow and then wrapped his fingers around my throat to keep me form vomiting it back up. The bandage turned green and slimy with bloody streaks showing through. “What is that smell?’ the teacher asked. “You have gangrene!”…When the water was steaming, Daddy poured Chlorox in it and plunged my whole hand into the bubbling water.

About the Author
Jeanne Byrns is a successful sculptor, artist, medical assistant, mother of five, and grandmother of five. She has overcome a history of mental and emotional torture, as well as physical and sexual abuse. This is her story of what happened and how she overcame that abuse.
