About the Book

The purpose of this book is to help children better understand anger and deal more effectively with it. This book is written for elementary age children, but may be of use for those younger or older.

Children of all types have problems dealing with anger. Those who are impulsive or have additional special needs such as developmental disabilities, ADHD, autism-spectrum disabilities or bipolar disorder often have an unusually difficult time with anger. This book is for any child - typical or special needs.

Our hope is that this book facilitates discussions with your child to help in the process of managing anger and behaving in a way that does not others or infringe on other people's rights. In using this book, help the child understand that feelings are an emotional response to stimulus, and it's very hard, if not impossible, to change those initial feelings. What you can help the child learn to do, however, is to manage the resulting behaviour and choose how much control feelings and anger have over their lives. In other words, while it is acceptable to be angry, it is not acceptable to act destructively because of that anger. If your child seems to have an inordinately difficult time with anger and rage, it could be a warning sign that something else is going on and you may want to talk to your pediatrician or a qualified child therapist or psychiatrist.

About the Author

Formerly a computer professional and technical writer, I found my world turned upside down when my child was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. Life has gotten much better for us, but it changed my focus to using my writing skills to help children be emotionally healthy. Currently, I am working on my Master's Degree in Mental Health Counseling, and plan to both work with children and continue writing stories for them and the adults who care for them.

Bryna is also the author of the following books: My Bipolar Roller Coaster Feelings Book, and My Bipolar Roller Coaster Feelings Workbook.
