Excerpts

The WTC attack burned into our psyche that we live in momentous times. September 11 will be as much a turning point in the way people think as was the birth of Christ, the signing of the Magna Carta, the Columbus journey or Pearl Harbor. Yet we are essentially unaware as our minds are reshaped by the tragedy.
Our outer world can change faster than our inner world can accommodate. Our conscious minds reel from seeing jetliners wipe out 6,000 lives and enormous skyscrapers. Beneath the surface, our subconscious minds scrabble to redraw a new world map revised by our vulnerability to evil attack.
Meditation will bring some of the unprocessed material to awareness and enable us to consciously adapt to fears in the most ecological way for the individual. This is true of day-to-day events as well as historical ones. Guided mental imagery, and especially SubContact, can bring to awareness that which needs to be consciously understood and accommodated, thus enabling us to restore mental balance more quickly.

"SubContact is the term we have created to describe contact with the subconscious mind. Thus the many different kinds of experience we can have with our subconscious, such as dreaming, intuition, mental imagery or meditation, are all forms of SubContact. When SubContact is used to describe the technique we have developed, it refers to a specific type of guided interactive mental imagery. An additional meaning of SubContact is the program of modules we have developed to help others achieve a meaningful relationship with their subconscious.
The modules are presented in the order that SubContact evolved. The reader may choose to experience the modules differently. Each of the modules is self-contained and designed to be adaptable to personal needs. Each module overlaps and relates to the other modules.
The first module, Change 101, deals with the nature of, need for, obstacles to, and techniques for facilitating change. We all want change, we all fear change and we all experience change. We can choose to be an active partner to change, or we can allow ourselves to be buffeted by the fear of change. Using a simple formula for understanding fear, we show how to understand common damaging behaviors and the reason why our fears are obstacles to lasting change. The lessons in Change 101 can be used as a life-long practice to keep us in emotional balance and help us to understand why we fear change. Finally, for those fears that are reluctant to identify themselves, we demonstrate how we can turn to our inner selves for the answers. There we will begin to explore the wealth of wisdom available from our subconscious memories.
The key to unlocking our personal files of belief systems, and how it affects our reaction to change, is found in the second module, Power Meditate. Here we cover the techniques and psychology of contact with the subconscious, a preliminary to the practice of SubContact. We do not join the debating psychologists who are Îforâ or Îagainstâ the existence of the subconscious. Our book is about experience. It is about how we changed as the result of our relationship with our subconscious, and how our readers, if they choose, can make changes by exploring their own subconscious.
One of the discoveries we made was in the area of language. Understanding the information retrieved from the subconscious challenged us to interpret it. We have never spoken to anyone who, when their dream was analyzed from a purely linguistic point of view, was not amazed at the message it contained. Our subconscious, everyone's subconscious, is a master wordsmith, symbol maker and storyteller. Dream Language is a module that shows us how we can learn to recognize our own personal SubContact language. It draws on our experiences that have accumulated over a lifetime and, therefore, has meaning specifically within the context of our lives. Through practice at decoding our subconscious language, we can better understand the dialogue that takes place between our inner and outer worlds. Who doesnât wonder about the meaning of life and our place in the grand scheme of things? Perhaps our subconscious has offered us answers, answers that we could not understand. We suggest that the elements of Dream Language offer a way to make sense of the answers.
In 4TH Dimension or 4D Thinking we demonstrate that posing the question can be half the answer. Thinking in the 4th dimension is a method of using the subconscious mind to generate ideas and solutions. Although it is often said that two heads are better than one, the greatest benefit to learning and practicing this technique is in finding answers that fit us personally. The steps are straightforward and like anything we learn, the more we practice, the better we get at it and the easier it becomes.
Now we are prepared for the SubContact module that tells us everything we need to know to directly experience the wonder of conscious contact with our subconscious. When we take the time to understand our fears, then learn to set aside our conscious awareness, we can pass through that imaginary archway to our subconscious.
It is an archway that we, as co-explorers, have passed through many times as we researched SubContact. Now, acting as guides to point the way, we outline the protocols that worked for us. We also know that each person that continues to practice SubContact will be guided by her or his own unique process.
And finally, one way to practice all the techniques found in the SubContact modules is to be part of a goal-oriented group we call GO Teams. This final module of our program is a mutual support environment that provides us with an opportunity to establish goals and work toward them. Our experience shows that a particularly useful way to practice SubContact is to have a purpose or a goal to achieve. With a GO Teams approach, we have the additional benefit of like-minded individuals to help us get going, keep going, and get there.
As co-authors we worked as a team, supporting each other to develop what we uncovered. Together we learned to adapt it to our lives and to share it with others. Remember, it only takes two to make a GO Team.
All the modules of SubContact are designed to assist in accessing and understanding our subconscious experience, an experience that can enhance our well being, help us achieve our goals and live a more satisfying and fulfilling life.
We begin by telling our stories; what brought each of us to that point of awareness and acceptance of the need for change in our lives. We then describe how we began the exploration of our subconscious through guided meditation. When we realized the potential wealth of information available to us, we began to study and take notes on the language of the subconscious. We recorded our SubContact sessions. We experimented with creative problem solving, which lead us to 4th dimension thinking. We shared our work with others and the concept of support teams evolved for achieving goals
.     We, Dian and Bob, began the process of making major life changes out of necessity. As a result of the successes we've had through the practice of SubContact, we continue to address the challenge of change for the satisfaction and meaning it brings to our lives.
Whether you think you know exactly what you want or are searching for that missing something, we guarantee that you will experience your life in a deeper, more satisfying way by doing what we have learned to do.
If you want it to, this book can change your life."
