A Note from the Author
If poetry can evoke a response, awareness or a memory, awaken life to its reality, express all its emotions and fears, then poetry can be a lesson taught or learned, a question or an answer.
Allow poetry to be a release valve for your soul and your heart, as I have. Poetry has given me the opportunity to feel the presence of God, lift my spirit, and communicate with my soul and allowed my heart to pour out love.
POETRY
Brings you joy.
Heightens the senses.
Restores your faith.
Broadens the mind.
Activates your subconscious.
Opens new horizons.
Insures your presence.
Soothes the soul.
Warms a heart.
Sample Excerpts
DESOLATION
The canyons of the mind hold you
like the walls of a prison.
Etched by the passage
of passion and desire
...now echoing lost love.
Heart cracked and parched
by the lack of nourishment,
a dry bed, where love once flowed.
A barren plateau under cloudless sky,
illumed by a blazing red sunset
...then total darkness.
Stars refuse to come out,
even the moon ceases to shineBleak is life without love.
PATCHES
You go through life
with a patched-up heart,
waiting for another
love to start.Only once more
to be broken and torn apart,
...then another patch,
on a patched-up heart.One day, you're sure to find
another heart with patches.v Then, you can match
patches with patches
and begin to mend
two patched-up hearts.
HUMANS
Wandering, staggering, absorbed
by the quickening of their lives,
playing desecrating music
and chanting strange words,
loosing their purpose and their way.Their carousing, cavorting and drunkenness
has lead them to the taverns and brothels
where they thought everything would be free,
but they have paid a dear price to get there.Let God set them out to dry under His radiance
---let His love replace their thirst and lust,
resurrecting the spirit that is within them so
they may take the first step, learn to walk
upright again--- and be proud.Restore and replenish body and soul,
cleanse the river of life that flows
through their veins.
Clear away all the blemishes of heart
and remove the mildew from the brain.
Throw away those disheveled garments
for the new wardrobe will be illuminating.
THE DOLL
I sit upon this old store shelf,
see my face, it shines so bright.
Please take me to your little girl,
I'll be her friend for life.
My dress is new and ribboned,
my hair is long and fair.
Please take me to your little girl,
I know I'll find love there.
I'm not the sexy long-legged blond,
or the one on the movie screen.
I wear a smile, I'm stuffed with love
and when I close my eyes, I dream,
that I will be that special gift
to make a young girl glad.
I'll love her more and more each day,
and see that she is never sad.
We'll play and laugh
and sometimes cry,
but tears of joy, you see,
because toy brought me home to her
and she made a friend of me.
FALLEN LEAVES
Fallen leaves resting quietly
on hollowed ground,
Among stark white markers.
gleamings of autumn all around. It does not matter which war,
started by greed or stupid pride,
these young men (our country's best)
went off, fought and died.
Those taken down in freedom's battle,
(their souls lifted up in glory)
now lay here at rest
in these grounds now holy.Remember their names.
Remember their deeds.
For every mother's loss,
a mournful heart bleeds.Fallen leaves--- fallen sons.
