About the Book
This fictional children's picture book is geared to the age range of 4 to 7-years-old. The main characters, Boga Bear, Skola Squirrel and Bunko Bunny are three very unlikely animals to become friends in a forsest, but then that's the beauty of fiction. Anything can happen. These three friends meet daily on "the Green" to play, talk and plan what they want to do that day.
I hope younger children will enjoy having these story read to them and then explore it throught the beautiful color pictures drawn by my illustrator, Don Ratkowski. Don's wonderful art work brings a visual aspect to the book that makes the story come alive. His use of color, shading and depth perception makes the story come alive. As children grow older and lean to read on their own, my hope is each time they read this book, they will come away with a new piece of information that they didn't have before.
The story was written to be fun, but it's also designed to teach the life-long lessons of getting along with others, making decisions (and the pleasures and consequences of those decisions), and learning from personal experiences. I've also involved the use the use of morals into the fabric of the story and then letting the characters bring them to life. This way, the reader learns from character and their actions. Friendship, courtesy and respect are covered in this story, not only for each other, but for all the animals in the forest, as well as the forest itself. These are the kinds of life-long messages i want children to appreciate and learn as they read my stories.
About the Author
I'm 57 year-old and a single parent of two boys (Josh and Ben) that are now 9 and 14-years-old. I started writing when I retired from Pacific Bell, but my stories originated as bedtime stories. When my boys were between the ages of four and seven I'd make up stories for them so they'd go to sleep smiling. My stories worked. I had no idea back then, that today, I'd be recreating those stories as book. When I'm not writing, I like to do vounteer work at my boy's schools, Cub scouts, Boy Scouts and their various sports activities. I'm also an active member of the Sacremento Publishers and Author's Guild.
