About the Book

In Twas All Because of a Nose, Vim Nzabi paints a vivid tale of five friends drawn together by their commitment to one another and to a common objective. As they begin what is generally recognized as a search for fame and fortune, everything seems to go their way. Obstacles are quickly surmounted because of their determination to work together as a team while maintaining the strong bond of their friendship.

Things, however, start to go downhill, when in the course of their journey they encounter situations that bring out a more individualized approach to problem-solving. What ultimately casts the five friends asunder is strangely enough, a runny nose. From that point on none obtain their goal, nor do any manage to make it back to their village. The story ends with a query that readers must resolve for themselves, a query as to how to build a better world where all retail their individuality while working for the common good.

About the Author

Vim Nzabi is a new Belgian writer born in Kinshasa in 1953. He considers himself to be a citizen of the world through his multicultural background. He earned a Masters in Pedagogy in 1979 and has accomplished a brilliant career as a teacher of French, pedagogical advisor, and a secondary-school director. He started to write his tales in 1998, when he was responsible for after-school activities for young people from eight to twelve years in Brussels. Since 2002, he has worked as an independent consultant in adult education and in intercultural mediation.

As a defender of human rights, Vim Nzabi has participated in many workshops and international conferences on human rights and peace in Europe and abroad. In 2001 he earned a certificate as specialist in United Nations peacekeeping operations from the UNITAR (United Nations Institute for Training and Research).

Twas All Because of a Nose, the first tale of Vim's collection, presents the vision of the traditional African society, based upon the solidarity. As soon as the selfishness appears in the solutions of the community problems, things fall apart as it happened to the five friends.
