This story tells of two sisters, Paityn and Paxtyn visiting their grandparents during summer vacation. Grandfather entertains them with a true story about the importance of bumble bees. He tells them about how the queen bee along with the worker bees struggle to protect the bumble bee babies from the natural elements and dangers of the world just as any mother and her family would do. He tells how the queen bee had to escape danger and might have died, leaving the nest with no protection and no one to wax and seal the cells around the eggs. He continues that a tractor almost ran over the nest and the bees attacked the farmer, trying to keep the babies safe. Then, there was danger that a bird might eat the babies while still in the egg stage. Mrs. Bee tells the worker bees to go out into the wide, wonderful world and gather pollen in their pollen baskets, and be prepared to feed the babies when they hatch. She emphasizes over and over that they had a very important job to do, which was to pollinate the farmer's crops or the children of the world would have no food to eat. Finally, after the babies arrive, she sends them out telling them to go from flower to beautiful flower gathering pollen and fertilizing crops as they accomplish the job that they were meant to do.

This book tells about two sisters, Paityn and Paxtyn visiting their grandparents on the farm during summer vacation. Grandad tells them a pleasant story based on true information about how Mrs. Queen Bumblebee struggles to protect her babies, just as any parent would, during three episodes of danger. There was danger to the queen bumble bee, to the bumble bee nest and to the bumble bee babies. It tells how the worker bees worked at keeping their pollen baskets full to feed the babies when they arrived, while Mrs. Bee fanned, pampered and protected the nest. Mrs. Bee emphasizes how important it was for her to protect them from the elements, and ever present enemies, since they had such an important task of pollinating the farmer's crops. Otherwise, without their help, the children of the world would have no food to eat.
About the Author
I am a seventy-three-year-old retired elementary school teacher and school counselor. I have a bachelor’s degree in education and a master’s degree in reading, with a reading specialist and a counseling certification. My husband passed away two years ago, leaving me a widow. I have three sons, one daughter-in-law, and two granddaughters. All three sons are gainfully employed. The oldest granddaughter is beginning college, and the youngest is a junior in high school. I often play mah-jongg with a group of ladies and read a lot for entertainment. I travel some with my family. Last summer, all seven of us took a cruise to the British Isles, visiting England, Ireland, Scotland, and France. Writing has been a pleasant way to fill my time since retirement.
