About the Book

The poems in this book are about people and places, their ups and downs, about phenomena I have observed and dreamt. Most poems are of reflective nature: about life and its events that surround us. We take up the challenges and pose ourselves to these events with dedication, determination, devotion and duty with sacrifices as many as we can make. These events mould our minds, rekindle our thoughts and refine our wisdom with new spirit to face more complex problems already waiting for us on our path to the so called ‘self-realization’. Isn’t life a serious business! May be yes, may be not! An attempt is made to bring in some poetry in life in this book. It would be useful to first read the notes and glossary. In first reading of the book, the ‘Seek Almighty’ may be skipped. A few poems (some are prose-like) would amuse, some would prompt a self-analysis and some would inspire. Some have more than one shade of meaning and interpretation - left to the imagination of the reader and her/his background, experiences and feelings. If any of the foregoing happens then some purpose of ‘Poetry of Life’ would have been served.

About the Author

Dr. J. R. Raol was born in 1947 in India. He received BE and ME degrees from MS University of Baroda, Vadodara in 1971 & 1974 and PhD from McMaster University, Canada in 1986. He worked in National Aerospace Laboratories, Bangalore from 1975 to 1981 and 1986 to 2007. He has been fellow/senior member/member of many professional societies/bodies and has served on many administrative/technical/examination committees. He has reviewed papers for several International Journals and visited several countries on deputation. He has guided 14 Master/Doctoral level students. He has authored (jointly) three technical books in the area of his work and specialization and published 100 research/technical papers and 50 technical reports. His research interests are modeling, parameter estimation, data fusion, flight mechanics modeling & analysis, fuzzy systems, genetic algorithms, neural networks and robotics. His reading interests are science, evolution and philosophy.
