Standing Room Only is in it's essence a brutally honest chronicle of a man's belief in, despair of, and disillusion with his environment, both locally and globally.

About the Author

Dermot McGarthy was born in Dublin in December 1963. After graduating from University College, Dublin in 1987 he moved to London. After a brief sojourn in banking he bagan teaching English and indulged his greatest passion - travel. Teaching assignments brought him to Eastern and Southern Europe and ultimately to Seoul in South Korea, where he taught Economics and Political Science. The intrepid voyager returned to his native shore in 1996. Dermot began writing short stories in his teens, and has had some of these published in individual collections. he began to seriously pursue the craft of poetry over the last five years. This is his first collection. Dermot currently lectures in Communications Strudies at the Dublin Institute of Technology.
