About the Author

To punish me for my contempt for authority,
Fate made me an authority myself.
- Albert Einstein

Mark is a teacher and the founder of Seize the Way, an integrative spirituality designed to improve the quality of life through rigorous self-examination, meditation and pragmatic service to the world community. Mark has practiced meditation for nearly 25-years and loves a good party.

When Mark was a child growing up in the suburbs of Los Angeles, he looked into the night sky with awe. He wondered what it meant that atoms with their nucleus and revolving electrons are similar to spinning solar systems and giant spinning galaxies.

Being nine years old, he had not heard of quantum mechanics or relativity, but he could name each constellation in the Northern Hemisphere. After reading Asimov and watching Star Trek, he dreamed of leaving Earth to explore the universe.

In lieu of off-planet travel and after some chemical experimentation endemic to his generation, Mark fell in love with the perennial philosophy. In pursuit of this passion, he has been fortunate to explore many states of mind and enjoy countless experiences throughout the world.

Mark is a gifted speaker, interfaith minister, former Marine, wanderer, adventurer, writer, grandfather, husband and proud father of five sons. He currently lives in several states of mind, including Oregon, with his wife and three of his children.
