About the Book

WINGS is a new, more customizable way for Christian churches of all denominations to do mission education with preschoolers, children, youth, and adults. It aims to help Jesus' followers to "catch the wind of God's Spirit" and become missionaries in their daily lives. Its goal is not to instruct church teachers, but to inspire them, to stimulate their God-given creativity and resourcefulness in relation to six session types, each a way of connecting with God's Spirit:

Life of Israel: Learning from Old Testament Bible Study
Life of Christ: Learning from New Testament Bible Study
Culture Study: Learning from Study of Ourselves and Our World
Case Study: Learning from Study of Specific Cases (Examples) of Ministry
Involvement: Learning from Hands-On Involvement in Mission Work
Commitment: Learning from a "Missions Lifestyle"

Used together, in any order, these six session types constitute a "set" of WINGS. Each set should have a theme or focus, and this resource contains nine sample sets for each age level (two in the book, and all nine on the cd-rom,) themed according to the nine "fruit of the Spirit" listed in Galatians 5:22-23. It also includes planning sheets designed to help teachers to develop their own sets. How you put together your WINGS is up to you. Be creative! Make these WINGS your own, and may you catch the wind!

WINGS was produced by Woman's Missionary Union of Virginia and the Virginia Baptist Mission Board, in partnership as Co-Missioners.
