Archetypal Forces are an Eternal presence in our unconscious. To become conscious, all they require is the attention of the intellectual mind. Wanting to be discovered, these Forces dress themselves in symbols. Carl Jung described the symbol as an image that communicates something of which the individual is unconscious. The main problem with the images of the unconscious is that they fade too easily. By painting them, the artist can freeze them on the canvas and then take the time needed to explore their meaning.

Mariu is a surrealist visionary painter who has devoted herself to painting the images of the unconscious since 1969. She has worked faithfully to prove to herself that, as Jung said, the images of the unconscious arrive to the conscious mind in an automatic way and they tell a story designed specifically for the individual in order that he or she may understand Universal Realities. Beyond the Homo Sapiens is the result of a life of work in that surrealist visionary path.
