The storyline of Tess and the Secret Elephant portrays the necessary elements in reaching a healthy self after sexual abuse. It illustrates the scenarios of the heroine's fear, self-doubt and denial. As the heroine, Tess courageously confronts the harm and fears after her abuse. She becomes more than a victim. She is transformed into a survivor. Through hard work of telling responsible, knowledgeable adults, she survives her ordeal. With help, she reestablishes confidant affirmations of worth, wholesomeness, cleanliness, safety, trust and love.

Daphne Carr holds a Master's degree in Elementary Education, and works in the field of higher education. Daphne enjoys writing, photography, and anything adventurous, like snowmobiling, hiking the Grand Canyon, climbing Mt. Fuji, and sitting in the middle of a glacier. She loves traveling to big cities, small towns, National Parks, and Major League Baseball fields.
