About the Book

Meet Tess, the triumphant child warrior, who faces and overcomes the terrible pain of childhood sexual abuse and trauma. Mr. Hugo, the secret elephant, assists Tess in her journey from despair to deliverance. He carries her too-big feelings until Tess finds the bravery and strength to face the reality of her hurt.

The storyline of Tess and the Secret Elephant portrays the necessary elements in reaching a healthy self after sexual abuse. It illustrates the scenarios of the heroine's fear, self-doubt and denial. As the heroine, Tess courageously confronts the harm and fears after her abuse. She becomes more than a victim. She is transformed into a survivor. Through hard work of telling responsible, knowledgeable adults, she survives her ordeal. With help, she reestablishes confidant affirmations of worth, wholesomeness, cleanliness, safety, trust and love.

Tess and the Secret Elephant seeks to inspire and benefit all survivors of sexual abuse replacing dull "button eyes" with ones which again sparkle. Above all, Tess' story is one of hope.
