About the Book

Finding love isn't easy! Just ask Alfonzo (Z) Mattingly. A single 40 something black male, who has spent his entire life in search of his soul mate. He is successful, handsome, knows how to dress and well versed in the art of conversation from the boardroom or to get that special lady into his bedroom. If he can't seduce you with words then he can seduce you with his culinary skills that can break down the most guarded progressive woman.

Z does not see himself as the typical black man simply out to collect as many sexual conquests as he can before he parts this earth. However, Z is no angel and he has indulged in more than his share of indiscretions with women and he honestly admits that he has no regrets because each encounter helped shape him into the positive African-American male he is today.

Z saw something in his parents' relationship, as flawed as it was to the outside world at times; it has stayed with him through out his life. "I like to call it 'Equally Yoked'. It's that perfect moment when that chemistry we talk about that two people have that is obvious to the individuals involved as well as to any one that happens to be in their presence. That over whelming feeling of love and respect for each other is just contagious. And I saw that look in my parents on more than one occasion."

Equally Yoked is one man's story, one man's struggle with relationship issues as he pursued his destiny to find his life's partner. Through Z's story you will find out that finding happiness regardless if you are a man or a woman there will be challenges, highs, lows, laughter, lessons learned and heartbreaks because it's all a part of becoming Equally Yoked.

Follow Z's story as he dispels some myths about black men and see how real black men in truth deal with the issues of love.
