About the Book

Maverick's Earth and Universe is about the true nature of Earth and Universe, which comes from discoveries that begin at the foundations of knowledge and which are securely anchored to the abundances of the elements and to the properties of matter and radiation. Maverick's Earth and Universe presents the science by progressing logically step-by-step so that the reader can understand, not simply believe. The author, Dr. J. Marvin Herndon, dubbed a "maverick geophysicist" by The Washington Post, refuses to march in lock-step with the consensus-driven scientific establishment. Instead, armed with a unique knowledge of the nature of science and the ways to make important discoveries, passed down through generations of master scientists, his professional life has been a step-by-step logical progression of understanding and discovery. He has uncovered deep-rooted, fundamental flaws in geophysics, astrophysics, and science management, blunders which have led scientists astray for generations. He has not only published these in world-class scientific journals, such as the Proceedings of the Royal Society of London, but, having removed logical-obstacles, has progressed far along the way toward revealing the strikingly different nature of Earth and Universe, which he now shares with people everywhere. In Maverick's Earth and Universe, the author reveals the way science should work, including a methodology more fundamental than the so-called scientific method, and describes techniques to use for making discoveries, which are not found in any textbook.

About the Author

Dr. J. Marvin Herndon, a physicist, holds a Ph.D. in Nuclear Chemistry, and has had Post-Doctoral training in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry under Nobel Laureate Harold C. Urey and Hans E. Suess, who themselves were trained by master scientists, including Nobel Laureate Niels Bohr. Early in his career, as he began to make fundamental discoveries, Dr. Herndon realized the impossibility of discovering the true nature of the Earth and Universe, without inevitably contradicting the consensus-view of government-funded university scientists, whose support depends upon continuing secret reviews by their competitors. Opting for independence, rather than knuckling under, avoiding conflict, and "howling with the wolves", the author struck out alone without Federal funding. Guided by the lessons learned from the masters, Dr. Herndon began a decades-long, logical progression of discoveries and understandings, uncovering deep-rooted blunders in geophysics, astrophysics, and science management. Afraid of losing their own financial support, government-funded scientists ignored the progress, even when it called into question the validity of their own Federally-funded research. But then, in 2002, the author's work was the cover feature of Discover Magazine and "the cat was out of the bag"; people everywhere took interest, scientists validated his work, and no one to date has refuted his work in the scientific literature. Dr. Herndon has discovered the strikingly different nature of Earth and Universe, which he now shares with people everywhere, while revealing a more fundamental methodology than the so-called scientific method and disclosing techniques all can employ to help make discoveries.
