About the Book

The author, Andrew Bennett started running in 1983 when he took part in the Five Towns Half Marathon in Pontefract to raise funds for charity. So taken was he by the event that he was soon on the lookout for the next race and literally hasn't stopped running since.

"Which way did they go" follows on from Andrew's first book, "Middle of the Packer" in which he relates to incidents and experiences at races in West Yorkshire, the North of England, further a field and overseas, trying to maintain a humorous theme throughout. In 2007, he should reach his 900th race, which have ranged in distance from the modest 5K to beyond the marathon.

Without ever having a chance of winning, Andrew enjoys the taking part, the atmosphere and the camaraderie, with every race and course providing a different challenge, new experiences and stories.

Andrew was born in Rothwell, West Yorkshire in 1953 and has lived in the area for all his life. Now semi retired, he worked in the manufacturing and distribution of soft drinks for 33 years. He has been a member of Ackworth Road Runners & Athletics Club for the last 16 years.

About the Author

After playing football in his younger days and giving up on cricket as a bad job, the author Andrew Bennett ran his first race, The Five Towns Half Marathon in 1983 for charity. So captivated was he by the experience and the camaraderie that he was quickly on the lookout for the next race and literally hasn't stopped running since.

A regular on the West Yorkshire running scene for the past 25 years, Andrew should reach the 900 race milestone later in 2007. He has travelled throughout the North of England and beyond with regular trips overseas in pursuit of his hobby, making friends on the way and visiting places where only running would have taken him.

He has competed in the modest Fun Run to beyond the marathon distance and has run in some of the great races both at home and abroad.

Without ever having a realistic chance of winning, he says every race is unique with many providing various situations and experiences with lots of different angles for storylines.

Trying to maintain a humorous theme throughout, "Which way did they go" is Andrew's second book and should appeal to the serious runner, the not so serious and the none runner alike.
