About the Book

Just A Basketball is a comprehensive step-by-step guide of ball handling and dribbling drills (with detailed descriptions), beginning with basic ball handling and dribbling fundamentals and then progressing towards more complex drills. The book includes over 450 different drills to allow basketball players to improve their skills and have fun in the process.

Just A Basketball will appeal to:

  • current basketball players wanting to further develop their skills
  • children wanting to become basketball players
  • coaches at all levels
  • parents of players
  • physical education teachers
  • recreation employees (e.g., YMCA, youth clubs)

Just A Basketball is extremely beneficial because it develops better ball handling and dribbling skills for players, it is very informative, it covers all ability levels, and it is a valuable resource for coaches and parents to find drills for their players and children. Unlike other books on the market, Just A Basketball focuses on individual ball handling and dribbling skills instead of covering all aspects of basketball. There seems to be a void in finding descriptions of specific drills to improve a player’s ball handling and dribbling abilities. No other book can match the amount of fundamental and creative ball handling and dribbling drills and tricks that are in the pages of Just A Basketball. Based on research, ball handling and dribbling have never been covered in this much detail with a progressive step-by-step approach.

About the Author

Like most players, Andy Hart started out in recreational leagues at an early age to learn basic basketball fundamentals. As he got older, Andy played on competitive traveling teams and then four years of high school basketball in Northern Virginia. A few years later he coached youth basketball teams in Western North Carolina and eventually worked his way up to the high school level back in Virginia.

Andy has frequently attended basketball camps and clinics to share and also learn ball handling and dribbling drills and tricks. He is especially known for his ball handling creativity and basketball knowledge. In 2001, Andy was chosen as a National Semi-Finalist in a nationwide “Freestyle” basketball contest. He has also performed at a number of school and talent events to showcase his abilities.

Being able to find a multitude of individual ball handling and dribbling drills in one place can be rather difficult. As a result, Andy decided to consolidate many of the drills he learned and created into one comprehensive book. Ball handling and dribbling were always his specialty as a player and coach so he decided to develop a list of drills regarding these skills. Many of the drills in Just A Basketball were created by Andy to help players with their coordination, ball control, strength, and quickness. People like the fact that Andy is just an everyday person who enjoys the game of basketball and wants to share his ball handling and dribbling knowledge and secrets with others.
