About the Book

The author has spent more than six decades at Penn State, with time out for the U.S. Marines and Iwo Jima. These are his stories of university personalities, athletics and academics during that period of time.


About the Author

Mickey Bergstein graduated from Penn State with the Class of 1943 and he received his M.A. degree in 1950. For 28 years he was the General Manager of Radio Stations WMAJ and WXLR and was also involved in Penn State sports, both as an announcer and as a producer of the Penn State Football Network. He also served as the President of The Pennsylvania Association of Broadcasters. He joined the Universtiy faculty on a full-time basis in 1947 after serving as an Adjunct Professor in several departments of the University.

At the University, in addition to his teacching schedule, he served for severral years as the College of Business Administration's Director of External Relations. He received several Fred Brand Jr. Awards for Excellence in Teaching and for Student Advising. He received the Lion's Paw Medal and was honored as the University's Renaissance Man of the Year in 1989.

In retirement he is an Emeritus Associate Professor in the College of Business and has authored Penn State Sports Stories and More. His wife, the former Betty Reed, and their two sons are also Penn State Graduates. Andrew teaches in the College of Business at the University and Michael is the Managing Editor of the literary journal, Conjunctions at Bard College.
