About the Book

It is quickly noted that she loves to write. She places in the hearts of young children that same love for the writing experience by giving the children opportunities to write on their own and with each other. Parents are encouraged to allow their children to tell about the pictures they draw at home as the parent writes simple sentences about the picture. Parent and child then read the sentences together and learn how pictures evolve into the written process.

About the Author

I am a retired elementary educator of thirty-three years. I have always loved books and transferred that love of books to the children I taught. I spent my Saturday mornings at the public library on the floor with children reading and breathing in the pictures and words before me. I love reading books to children! In my classroom, the children and I often brought books to share, placing them into a large wicker basket. The highlight of our day was to empty the basket onto the carpet and scurry around to find books to share with each other. It was fun to role-play characters from our books, adding music and fun to our story experiences. Several times throughout the year, books were scattered around the room, and the children were encouraged to find that special book for their very own. I grew up with books, learning that the stories I experienced were a valued gift. I wanted to share that gift with children. I live in Fayetteville, North Carolina, where I continue to share my love of books with children in my church and community. I am a church musician and enjoy showing the children how pictures and words can become musical. I am married and have three sons and two granddaughters and a loyal black Lab. I am married with three grown sons and two granddaughters.
