This book details a dissertation that provides insight about a leadership perspective on HIV/AIDS awareness. If you plan to become intimate before marriage, if you are intimate with a significant other, or if you want to know what the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention says about the social contact of the HIV/AIDS disease read this book. This book reveals that the participants were not aware of leader’s commitment to educate the community. The theoretical model includes personal context, support and education, socio-cultural meaning, and personal meaning, all of which related to the formation of a global meaning regarding HIV/AIDS awareness. The issues were discussed as the emergent theoretical model and its components, which included implications of research, practice, stigma, burden, advocacy, and awareness. Leadership, education, and community resources were the dominant themes that emerged in the study. The study findings imply an increased need for leaders to present public awareness about the affects HIV/AIDS has on the African American community. Future research should consider the explicit nature of the answers, which benefited the study. The information would be helpful while improving the quality of life available for African American women and women of all cultures, and would enable leaders to interact with a leadership perspective (USAID, 2009).

About the Book
I wrote this dissertation for the School of Advanced Studies at University of Phoenix, Arizona, in 2011. To do the research for the dissertation, I spent quite a bit of time at the Center of Disease Control and Prevention archives as a graduate student. I also interviewed medical doctors and others who knew about the subject matter. Since I wrote this dissertation, there has been more research published that I will continue to research and add to my archival collection. The issues of this dissertation were discussed as the emergent theoretical model and its components, which included implications of research, practice, stigma, burden, advocacy, and awareness. Leadership, education, and community resources were the dominant themes that emerged in the study. The study findings imply an increased need for leaders to present public awareness about the affects HIV/AIDS has on the African American community. About the Author
Dr. Betty Ragsdale-Hearns is a motivational speaker, author, educator, and leadership mentor. She loves teaching as it gives great joy interacting with students and to be able to engage in the learning opportunity. As licensed and ordained as a minister, she travels to Texas Prison Systems with her church, speaking about critical issues affecting the full range of human, social, and spiritual development. The work is complex, difficult, and challenging, and most rewarding, when souls are saved by the word of God. The central theme of her message is the transformation of followers into leaders and the maximization of individual development.
