My Africa This is my Africa; A home so accommodating and serene The ever beautiful seasons, our pride Beginning with January through April: We bask and toil in your Sun set We plough the land to bring forth fruits Thou art so tough, yet calms our aching hopes Your temperate heat gradually turns in May: Swirling winds to shake off the sweaty moments As if this is not enough, comes beautiful rains June, July, and early August crave for heavens cry The heavens open up with sweet alluring calmness Your sweet and cool summer season is here! To bring the glory of procreation on high Embalming our soothing hopes of those to carry on Yet Africa, you live it all out in this hope Yes, you reproduce our kind for our future August sees mixed moments of harvest Welcoming yet another season of rays of light Sometimes heavens shine as if it’ll never rain again And at times too dry, refusing to close an eye September, October, November, they all come with activities The ones that keep us busy and celebrating In full communion with Africa, Our aging bodies remain atoned with the land As peaceful as working through a calm and lonely path December creeps in with fanfare and thought of yet another cycle Lo, it’s time to plough the land again. Tell me, is this not Africa, the great warrior of the Savannah! Oh yes, this is my Africa The great Lion’s dean!
