King Levi and Buckie are new friends who set out on an adventure to find out why there was unrest stirring in the region. They roamed several miles from the safety of the King’s pride and journeyed into a thick part of the jungle. After walking for a while, Buckie was finding it hard to keep up with King Levi because the King’s legs were much longer and stronger than Buckie’s, so Buckie asked if they could rest for a while. The King new that Buckie had shorter legs and had to walk twice as fast as he did, so he agreed and they rested for a while. They stopped under a shady Marula Tree that gave off a slight breeze and protected them from the hot sun.
As they set under the shady tree, they exchanged stories about their lives. The King Levi and Buckie found that both of them had different but interesting lives. The King was born into a life of royalty and respect. He had servants that granted his every wish and they were always at his command. He lived the life worthy of a King, but also realized the great responsibility that went along with it. Although there were times for fun and games, he was also taught to be strong, mighty and defend those he loved.
On the other hand, Buckie was born into a life of underground dwellers that lived most of their lives below ground. He had a very happy childhood and enjoyed running from one burrow to another with his friends. He and his family lived in burrows with steep entrances that were connected to various rooms used for resting or storage. Like most underground dwellers, he and his family felt safe and secure in the deep spaces below ground, much better than they did when above ground.
Although Buckie loved the underground life, he also loved the above ground way of life just as much. He often wondered what life would have been like, if he was born an above ground creature. He believed nature gives the above ground creatures wonderful things to enjoy. They can wake up to the sun shining on their faces; they can feel the rain drops from the sky, and also experience the different changes of the seasons.
As they continued to rest under the Marula Tree, recalling fond moments of their lives, it was clear that King Levi and Buckie came from two totally different backgrounds, still they found each other lives very interesting.
Suddenly, King Levi stopped talking and became very quiet; he felt that danger was near. Then out of nowhere, a blast of dust moved quickly towards them. It came up so rapidly, that the dusty air totally covered Buckie. The dust was caused by a large herd of hartebeest running for safety. As they quickly stomped passed; the King called out with a loud voice, “What is the problem and why are you running?” One of the hartebeest from the middle of the herd responded by yelling “HUMANS!”
