Extreme Adventure

Climate change is the greatest threat we face, an issue that for decades was hidden from the masses by some industrialized countries that have directly caused the problem. It was intended to confuse the masses and make believe that climate change was a myth to avoid using resources to reverse the damage. For example, to lower the levels of carbon in the atmosphere was not in their vocabulary since getting away from oil, would cost them trillions of dollars. Today we know that most of those who maintain an anti-environmentalist, anti-climatic, anti-renewable resources speech and struggling not to solve the problem, probably have been bought by large fossil fuel companies who want us still to continue with the use fossil fuel. If we do not make substantial changes using renewable energy, and we continue with the status quo, millions of people will continue suffering from floods, or droughts, mega hurricanes and terrible storms especially in small countries or island nations. In such a case, there will be hundreds of millions of people fleeing from their countries in search of a new place to live. Biographical note of the author: Vida Amor de Paz is a Guatemalan environmentalist and expeditionary who unable to form part of a larger and more resourceful expedition in 2007 joined a French Schooner bound to the Arctic, center of the North Pole. The name of the sailboat was Tara which sailed on a polar drift. The French team was committed to this cause, and the adventurous, brave and passionate author, faced the challenge in order to achieve her mission: to show that the current climate change is similar to the one which caused the decline of Mayan cities thousands of years ago. She is now spreading her message of warning about the danger humans face if we do not begin immediately to care for and respect our planet. * "Extreme Adventure" chronicles the vicissitudes that Vida Amor de Paz had in the exciting North Pole expedition. The book, turns out to be a chronic with portions of scientific studies, plus an adventure. It is told in sometimes poetic words on how the author managed to be added to the expedition, despite the difficulties and lack of resources. She needed conclusions from observing and studying the frozen top of the world. Scientific data, expert interviews, graphics and photographs of the expedition is what the author manages to support her thesis in the impact of current climate change. She compares it to the decline of the Maya civilization thousands of years ago, and gives a warning message: if we don´t stop climate change today, we are facing a serious danger for the survival of humanity in the future. The book that the reader has at hand is not only a scientific study with a strong message, but a hymn of love for the planet and our natural resources that gives us the fruit of the passion and tenacity of someone who does not give up, in her hope of making a better world.
