About the Book

I love snacks. Be it chips, cookies, cakes, popcorn, I enjoy my fair share of them. One of the common misconceptions about eating healthy is that you have to have a lot of time and a lot of money. That’s absolutely not true. All that healthy eating requires is for you to pay attention and take that extra step of looking at the nutrition label and the ingredients of your item and asking yourself if you think that the product is right to put in your body. In this book, what I hope to do is make eating healthy a little easier. First of all, I have presented an alternative to the nutrition label that you will find easier to read. Then I take all the snack foods that you love and evaluate if they are healthy, whether there is too much sugar or salt or high fructose corn syrup. If your favorite munchies aren’t too good for you, I have provided a list of some healthy alternatives. Enjoy and, hopefully, pick up some healthy eating tips on the way. In this book, I examine the following categories of snacks: cookies, granola bar, crackers, and chips.

About the Author

I am a grade 11 student from Thornhill, Ontario. As with many other kids, I gained some weight around age 12. I admit that I love my share of snacks. Rather then to become a poster child for the obesithy epidemic in North America, I decided to learn about diet and nutrition. I then felt that I should share what little knowledge I had gained with other kids around me. I ran a program in my school that taught kids in grade 5 and 6 how to eat healthier. Then I ran a similar prog in another school in the area.Eventually however, I found that what I really wanted to do is not only teach kids that were around me, but also the ones that I didn’t know. The only way I could affect people that were far from me was to take the humble amount of information that I have gathered and put it into a book. There are many diet books on the market . My aim is to focus on snacks as they contribute significantly to the obesity epidemic. In this book I have reviewed some popular cookies, chips ans granola bars. and have evaluated them based on their nutrition status.
