About the Book

Damion had everything he possibly wanted, or so he thought. He had his mom; his dog, Tracker; musical instruments; and his aunt who he didn’t really know. They all lived in the same house in the city of Kingston on a small island called Jamaica. He didn’t see a dad or other family members, but that was not something he worried too much about. At eleven years old, Damion had just started fifth grade and would have to become strong because of tragedy, uncertainty, twists, and fear that his little life would bring him. How he chartered his own way became his strength and a look at what he will become for others. At the forefront of Damion’s story is a teacher, a boy and his dog, and a broken family waiting to mend.

About the Author

Dwayne Dyce is a Science teacher in Hillsborough County, Florida. He has been a teacher for over 9 years, teaching Science and Math. He spent his first four and a half years teaching in his home country of Jamaica before migrating to the United States. As part of his educational journey, he earned a Master of Education in Teaching and Learning (2012) and a Master of Arts in Educational Leadership (2016) from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota. At present, he is pursuing a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) degree in Leadership and Management at St. Thomas University in Miami, Florida. By nature, he is an educator who is always hungry for knowledge. This hunger for knowledge and exposure came from his personal background growing up in a deep rural town in Jamaica, known as Murray Mountain. Murray Mountain is a small agricultural community in the parish of St. Ann. It has wonderful people of hope. From this setting of the most humblest of beginnings, Dwayne emerged with an idea and a familiar story with an educational backdrop to share, and by way of telling it, others may find hope. When he was growing up, he had only one thing to motivate him - a natural drive to become better than his parents. Moreover, he wanted to share motivational and inspirational stories especially to young people to think of themselves as conquerors of fears. Currently, He lives in Brandon, Florida with his four-year-old daughter, Juliana. She inspired the name of the dog (Tracker) in this book - To Sing Again.
