CHAPTER 4:

Now, years later, sitting in the office, remembering her, I realised more than ever that I have to get back in contact with her. It's not as if I hadn't tried to. It had been an amazing romance but one that had failed a major test ten months into it, "Hey, TV, you're still alright for tennis tonight aren't you?! Barry popped his Winnie the Pooh look-alike head around my office door with a grin on his face, swinging an imaginary racket as he asked. His ginger hair which earned him the nickname ‘Carrot-Top’ always seemed to have a shaggy look to it. We had been working together for almost three years now and had rapidly become the best of friends. The two of us outwardly, could not have looked more different. Apart from his carrot-coloured locks, he had a freckled pale skinned face which always seemed to have a boyish grin permanently etched on it. He was tall, much taller than Winnie the Pooh but shared the same round face including the tiny eyes and a rotund body. Few people that meet Barry and chat with him failed to like him.

"Bet on it mate, no escape for you this night, last time you won was a pure fluke!"

He'd beaten me narrowly at the last match we played, I was burning for revenge. Being best mates didn't dull our competitiveness. Whenever we played it was guts and blood all the way. He was about to say something but got called away by the secretary.

I was left with my thoughts of Carlene once more and with the weekend starting, I promised myself I'd make an even stronger effort to locate her. Perhaps it was time to try the Internet, it suddenly made perfect sense and I can't think why I never considered it before!
