About the Book

Gemstone Wire Tree Sculptures is a guide to help create and design gem trees as another form of the lapidary arts. Gem, mineral and bead enthusiasts as well as those who love craft projects, now have the opportunity to learn this lost art form and how it is used as a creative outlet. All instructions are designed with the beginner in mind and include photos and diagrams to help navigate through the steps.

This is a great hobby for creating inexpensive gifts for family and friends that will delight and amaze them. Learn how the trees can be personalized for that special person by using gemstones, beads and charms.

As a bonus, a chapter has been included on how this hobby can become a positive influence on your personal development and help manage your stress. One of Dana’s students once commented that she didn’t realize that just the simple act of twisting gems on wire could be so relaxing and take your mind off other worries.

About the Author

Born in Oklahoma, Dana started crafts and hobbies at a young age. Her grandmother crocheted and sewed and was an accomplished china painter, quilt maker, and all around hobbyist that started Dana's interest in hobbies in the late 1960s. Dana's love of jewelry and gemstones started in the 1990s when she started making her own jewelry designs. Needing to learn more about gemstones, she joined a local gem and mineral club. It was here that she learned the gem tree art form. Dana and her husband, Paul, reside in the Pacific Northwest. They teach and demonstrate gem tree design at local and regional shows, as well as host their own website which features Dana's jewelry creations and their gem trees. Dana also competes with her trees and has won several awards for her designs. Currently, she holds the title of Advanced Gem Tree Designer. Dana is an active member in her local gem and mineral society, teaching at the various lapidary classes gem tree and jewelry design. She has held the past positions of President, Secretary and Editor, which she still holds.
