About the Book
This is a continuation of the transcribed and footnoted pension applications begun in book one of Don’t Shoot. It was almost 50 years after the men served before they applied for pension.
Though the pension applications are original source material, they are in need of explanation and documentation, which James F. Morrison has painstakingly done by using the muster rolls, payrolls, and regimental records from the Revolutionary War.
Most of the files for the men are longer than the documents transcribed; we tried to use the documents which give the man’s service record and any family information available. The longest file so far has been 264 pages in length. Some documents are difficult to read; due to fading of the documents, aging, poor handwriting, outdated spelling, etc. The ones of most interest are put into book form with the footnotes by James F. Morrison.
About the Author
James F. Morrison and AJ Berry have been working on transcribing Revolutionary War pension applications for several years. For James F. Morrison the journey began long before this time, he has been a student of the Revolutionary War for most of his life and has amassed a wealth of resource material. AJ Berry transcribed the documents and James F. Morrison proof read the work, corrected some faulty information given by the aging veterans, and added invaluable end notes to the depositions by the men. The result, it is hoped, will help many in their quest for information about their ancestors.
