About the Book

Future Film Fiction is a new style book with plenty to offer ALL audiences. The book consists of four short stories, each approximately sixty pages in lenght, and with each story there is a unique genre, or topic content. The book was originally designed to be merely a collection of synopsis' for motion-picture screenplays aimed towards the film industry. Although since its original concept, the books potential has increased with every change made to it. Now, with its release date growing closer, the book has not only been given the tag of "collection of screenplay synopsis'" but it has now become known for its potential to allow feedback to Hollywood about stories that the public wish to see in their cinemas in the future. It not only offers movie lovers the chance to offer their opinions on such stories, but it allows film production companies to know in advance if their potential movie may be successful or not; judging it by way of reading what the fans have to say about it first. Each story is very different in every way. The first story, entitled "ULYSSES" is a science-fiction/action story set in the future aboard a massive floating airport vessel, or FUBER as the fleet are individually known as, in the Alantic ocean. The purpose of these FUBERS is to allow aircraft to land and refuel at sea, in order to protect what little fuel remains on the earth in the year 2038. Because of the demand for what little oil is left on the planet, many a war has come and gone since the turn of the century. Oil theft has become the number one objective by world terrorists, and even some countries, around the globe. In a bid to lower the risk of such terrorism, NATO have built a fleet of FUBERS which move locations on a daily basis to avoid being traced by these terrorists and to ensure that the aviation industry can continue to exist, albeit in fear of extinction if a new means of fuel cannot be found soon. Up until now everything has run smoothly on board these fubers, but as ever, terrorism always manages to breach the most secure of fortresses, especially when attack is least expected. The second instalment in the book is entitled "CHAMELEON CRIMES". This story is a crime drama about a retiring government official, named Martin Kray, who stepped down as the leader of a secret organization a couple of weeks before his actual retirement date. The organization was co-created by Kray some forty years ago and its sole objective is to cover up unsolvable crimes. (mostly homicidal crimes that leave no evidence for the police to pursue any further) Whilst spending his remaining weeks training a promising young recruit into the organization and finishing off some overdue filing, Kray notices some irregularities that have occurred within the organization since his decision to step down. During some private investigating of his own, Kray becomes aware that his new boss is taking advantage of his new position and misleading everyone else around him. Some deaths have occurred in the past that need to be answered for, and Kray is adament that he will not retire until he finds out the truth. As a result, Kray himself gets caught up in a web of lies and mis-trust. He now finds himself on the wrong side of the law, because of his pursuit, and must create a cover up of his own in order to gain a safe resolution to the whole incident. The third story, a combination of action/romance and something of a goth/horror, is titled, "LOST IN PURGATORY". It is a tale about the ultimate love a husband could have for his wife. Following a major unavoidable incident, a married couple get seperated, perhaps forever. It is up to the leading male character, Daniel, to find his wife and bring her home to safety. He comes up against some of the worst obstacles imaginable. It is sometimes like hell on earth for Daniel, but his love for his wife drives him on. Will he succeed, and if so, will their marriage survive this terrible ordeal? In my own personal opinion, I have saved the best of these four stories until the end, although I did not conciously put them in any order when writing them. Set in Texas in the early part of the twentieth century, "MY HUSBAND'S DIARIES" is a romantic tale about a marriage in fear of collapse because of a husband's drink problem, amongst other things. One night during a moment of despair, James' wife, Josie, comes accross her husband's old diaries and begins to read them. She cannot believe what she begins to read, as the contents of the pages are James' complete life story, begining from a time when she had not yet met him, right up to the present time in their life. What Josie reads amazes her, she finds out some truths about her husband's life before they met; which includes a path of criminal activities that ultimately led him to their town. There is a lot of information in the diaries that may bring about a resolve to their current difficulties. And there is also a sub-plot in this tale that manages to play a big part in the absolution of this story.

About the Author

Born in Dublin, Ireland, in 1978, Ian Clinton was the second born into a family of three boys. He attended school until he was seventeen, obtained his leaving certificate, and then went straight into full-time employment as an apprentice bar-man. Four years later, and following jobs as a pizza-delivery man, a courrier, and then a labourer, Ian changed employment to become a toll operator near Dublin's docklands; during which time he realised that he wanted to become a full-time writer, he was 21 years old at this time. Ian spent a lot of his time isolated in his toll booth, where he began writing stories for amuzement; to pass the time. It soon became clear to him that he enjoyed this activity more than anything else he had ever done and knew straight away that he wanted to make a career out of it. Ian recalled being rather good at this art during his schooldays, and he decided to take up writing with the goal of becomming published as soon as possible. Six years later, here is his first work, but it was not easy by any means. Ian began writing screenplays, four in total, and for some years he relentlessly attempted to show his work, or even sell a story to a producer or a production company. Rejection upon rejection came back, and Ian quickly discovered that this industry required a lot more than just a good story. If you were not known you most likely did not want to be known. And nine times out of ten, any production company approached would have their quota filled for that year and therefore did not require the services of an unknown writer with an unknown screenplay. He did not give up and persevered from day one and continues to do so, still obtaining rejections and will no doubt continue to do same in some shape or form. Ian later changed employment in a bid to earn a better income so that he and his fiance, Samantha, could afford their first home together. They had to move two counties away to buy their house, due to the severe cost of housing in Dublin, and they had to travel four hours each day to get to and from work. This was a big strain for the couple and Ian used what little time remained in the day to begin writing this book. Two years later, Ian and Samantha were fortunate enough to be able to move back to Dublin and now, with more time in their day, Ian was able to finish his book and get it published. He continues to work in full-time employment as a merchandiser, but his dream is to be able to give up the nine-to-five and concentrate his future towards his writings. As any writer knows, this business is a very time consuming occupation, and Ian hopes that his next book, volume two in this series, will take less than six years to complete. With any luck, it will be six months.
