About the Author

This book has been researched and written over a period of some 20 years by Alan A. Copeman, a Hull man. Alan was always been a keen sportsman playing both football and cricket. He has always been interested in the history of the game and it was when he was unable to buy a similar book for himself that he decided to combine a love of literature together with his love of football in order this encyclopaedia of World Cup Football.

Alan was educated at The High School for Commerce in Hull and later spent 12 years in the Armed Forces (Royal Army Pay Corps). Alan has already begun researching a further book covering all England's Wembley matches and is looking forward to the 2006 World Cup Competition.
