About the Book

Colonel Hamp Porter finds himself in the middle of two life-changing experiences, one concerning his personal life and the other concerning the security of his beloved United States of America. Hamp has just returned from the army after twenty six years of service. However, his plans of living out his life with his wife died two years ago with her. Now he faces an uncertain future, but he won't remain alone because he rekindles a "friendship" with Gwen whose marriage to a two-timing husband is nearing an end.

Upon returning to his home in Steinhatchee, Florida, an area steeped in rumors and shady recollections of drug smuggling, Hamp settles into a normal routine of life fishing with his old friend Tom and visiting with Gwen whom he had found a job for with a friend of his. Normalcy is brief though. One morning Hamp receives a call from General Stone of the Department of Army Inspector General's office which embroils him in cloak and dagger experiences both in Europe at Hitler's old Eagle's Nest and in the Florida Keys with South American drug dealers. Little does he know at first that Herr Weismann, a Hitler clone , has already joined forces with wealthy and powerful men from around the globe for the purpose of stealing nuclear warheads to exchange for money with the drug lords for the purpose of bankrolling the furtherance of the Aryan race. After much plotting, several deaths, and many sleepless nights, Hamp and his select team secure the stolen warheads, capture the drug lords, and reestablish some sense of normalcy to his life in Steinhatchee, Florida.

About the Author

John Ross Archer, SR. is a retired military man, having served 23 years in the United States Army, from which he returned in 1982 with the rank of Colonel. Archer wove the tale of Pegasus partly from imagination, but greatly from his experiences with units in Europe and the United States. Archer also drew upon his work on the Army Staff, and his time served in Vietnam.

Archer grew up in Fitzgerald, Georgia, where he graduated from high school in 1953. He went on to receive a B.S. degree from North Georgia college in 1961. He also graduated from the Department of Defense Language Institute in 1968, completed a Master of Science Degree in 1971 from Creighton University, and did a Post-Graduate Study from 1982-1983 at Valdosta State University. The military has not been his only career. From 1982 to 1995 he served as Vice President of East Central Technical College.

Serving his country has always meant more than being a military man. Archer has served his fellow man by being very active in both civic and religious organizations. Presently he has membership in the Gideons Association, Bill Glass Ministries, and First Baptist Church of Sylvania, Georgia.

He has been married for 41 years to Joan Jamerson of Sylvania, Georgia, where the couple now reside. They have two sons, one daughter, and three grandsons.
