About the Book

Citizens! To the Ballot Box!! begins with a summary of the problems confronting our country today. It begins with the first verse of Woody Guthrie's song, This Land is Your Land. This is followed with a copy of the Preamble to the United States Constitution and uses the first three words of that document: "We the People."

This phrase is used to establish that this country and its government is governed by a constitution, which is very explicit as to what government officials can do. The author addresses the topics of War, Indebtedness, Pensions, Schools and Taxes, and uses the words of philosophers and leaders of the past to emphasize the sad condition of the country today.

The conclusion points to the Orange Revolution of the Ukranian people in the early winter of 2004 and urges a similar movement in this country.

Clarke Carr is a retired school teacher living in Michigan. He has been a student and teacher of history and politics and tries to stay abreast of current events around the world.

He is married and began writing as a hobby 40 years ago. This is his first book to be published. He and his wife live in Jackson, Michigan.
