About the Book

My story was written for my children and other descendants, but I hope it will be interesting to the general public. I didn't invent the genre "confessions". The Barnes and Noble Web site contains 1,663 titles (including duplicates) where the title contains the word "confession". I hope my book is one of the more honest ones, but it contains almost nothing I am ashamed of (as Chief Editor, I made sure of that). Many of the names were changed to prevent lawsuits. I have had a kaleidoscope of different jobs. In long-term perspective, my life has been coherent and purposeful.

About the Author

McCandlish was born in Washington, D. C. in 1924. The list of towns and cities he lived in is a sort of biography of his father, a Commercial artist. Starting with $7 at age 17, he gradually built up a modest fortune, and gathered degrees from 3 leading Universities (Johns Hopkins, Univ. of Rochester, and Rochester Inst. of Technology). He has been married for 43 years, and has three children and 3 grandchildren. This is his second book (the first was about genealogy).
