About the Author

Joe Austin II is an officer in the United States Air Force and a faithful member to the church he attends. He was born in 1977 to Joe and the late Sylvia Austin. At the age of 6, his mother passed away from cancer. Joe Sr. definitely taught Joe financial responsibility at an early age. By the time Joe was in junior high school, he was responsible for purchasing his school supplies, clothes, putting money in a savings account, and most importantly putting his offering in church.

All of this played a huge part in who Joe is today and will be tomorrow. Joe and LaWonta have been married for 12 years and have two children (Joe III and Jocelyn). Through this union, Joe has gained a second set of parents, Jonathan and Bobbie Platt.

Joe has been in the Air Force for fourteen years. He enlisted during his senior year of high school as a delayed enlistee; within two months of graduating, he was in basic training at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. He went on to have assignments at Keesler AFB in Biloxi, Mississippi and Offutt AFB in Omaha Nebraska. While at Offutt, Joe earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha in Aviation Studies. He also earned a Private Pilot's License and has over 100 hours of flight time. Initially, he longed to become an Air Force pilot; however, despite being accepted for the program, roadblocks appeared along the way and changed his destiny. He still yearns to fly, and he has thought of submitting a request for flight training again. After completing Officer Training School at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama, Joe was assigned to Scott AFB, Illinois near of St. Louis, Missouri. He was an Aircraft Maintenance Officer with the C-9A Nightingale unit. He often encouraged people to invest, go to school, and have good work habits in order to succeed in life.

Joe is currently a Program Manager with the Cryptologic Systems Group at Lackland AFB in San Antonio, Texas. Joe is an avid researcher of financial topics and has read many books and publications by various authors. He hopes this book will open the doors to a topic many don't focus on. Joe is available to do workshops, seminars, and provide help wherever needed. He is particularly interested in personal and church finances. He is a firm believer that if individuals are financially independent, they will be able to live more comfortable lives and will be able to support their local church and community in a stronger manner.
