About the Author

Roger Kenley Dawson is 59 years old. Born in Nottingham, spent recent years in Wales and now living in Cheshire. He was diagnosed in 2004 with an aggressive prostate cancer and had a radical prostatectomy at The Nottingham City Hospital. As Director of a business development company involved with many aspects of business life, he has now shifted that into second place to his commitment to a newfound skill, which surfaced since being stopped in his tracks with this diagnosis. He is married to Vicky and they have four children and six grandchildren. This, together with speaking with many men and their families affected with prostate cancer, has sharpened his awareness of the varying impacts these diagnoses have on families. On his journey back to health he says he has discovered a lot about himself that he never knew existed. He is a realist, keeping two feet on the ground and doing what he can to give others affected with prostate cancer as well as other illness a positive outlook. He says this recent experience has brought about his re-evaluating his life, many things that used to matter, don't, and many things that didn't matter, do. Knowing how private but troubled most men are about this condition, there is an open offer from the author, who has a small team he can call on, to discuss with a fellow patient, either anonymously or privately any aspect of the condition.
